Devonport was one of the three towns that made up the urban area of what is now known as Plymouth. The tour will include the Devonport Guild Hall, Admiralty House, Reglan Barracks Gatehouse, Mount Wise Fort, Hamoaze House (previously the Admirals House), Mount Wise Park, Scott Monument, Mutton Cove and Devonport Market. We’ll view John Foulston buildings, including the Egyptian House. It will also include a visit to North Corner where the Dockyard originated.
During the tour we will discuss the origins of the town and its connection with the Navy, Army and the war time leaders who were here during both world wars. These included Churchill, various members of the royal family and others!
