A fascinating walk in a fascinating city

What better to do on a sunny Sunday afternoon than take an informative guided walking tour around Plymouth. A group of three of us met Elaine at St Andrew's Church for the 1hr 15min tour of Plymouth's historic Barbican. As a resident of Plymouth, I thought that I knew this area pretty well but was delighted to be taken to places that I didn't know existed and listen to stories and anecdotes that I had not heard before including a gruesome story of cannibalism!

Areas of the Barbican that I was very familiar with I saw in a new light. For example, Elaine was able to point out where the original walls of the harbour were, Once pointed out, I could begin to see what a bustling port the city would have been with fish markets and other traders around the harbour.

I understand that this is a new venture for Elaine and I believe that Plymouth Pilgrim Tours will go from strength to strength.

Truly Excellent Tour

Elaine & Ernie are very welcoming and enthusiastic. It was great to learn some more about my home city. Very reasonably priced too, for the amount of attention to detail that there is.

A very enjoyable tour!

I really enjoyed my tour. I hadn’t known what to expect as I had lived in Plymouth all my life and I wondered if any of it would be new to me. However our tour guide Elaine was full of interesting facts and anecdotes and I actually learnt quite a lot! We started our tour outside St Andrews church and meandered through lanes I had never been down before where Elaine pointed out buildings with connections to many historic figures and events.. We then explored different areas of the Barbican, and although I had been there hundreds of times I came away with a new appreciation for my amazing home town! Elaine was very friendly and made us all feel at ease, answering any questions we had.Our tour lasted about an hour and 15 minutes . I would be interested in taking another tour with Elaine and maybe learning more about Plymouth Hoe! Highly recommend!
